Shigeko HIRAKAWA

Japanese Land art artist

Born in 1953

A n visual artist  working in France since 1983.

Naturally influenced by ecology, she integrates in her works, in a symbolic fashion, the vital elements necessary for human life – water, air, light – all elements that she gives a poetic dimension.

For example, one of her works, titled « Water in a ball » symbolizes the very low quantity of fresh water that the earth has left.  Her nine small spheres, transparent and filled with water, float on a mirror of greenish water which defracts their diffused tonalities.
